"Stripes' Sticky Situation" is the first half of the third episode in the first season.
Summary[]
Stripes is trying to scare two boys but they are not scared by him at all, one even claiming that his dad is scarier. Seconds later a candy wrapper falls into his cage which has a body part on it. Stripes soon becomes obsessed with collecting the bubble gum wrappers for the contest which has a "fabulous prize". The goal is for the contestant to complete the Gobble Gum mascots face with a series of wrappers. It isn't easy finding wrappers at first because Stripes is supposed to be in his cage during the time the carnival is open. At first he tries to sneak around in a wash tub but is found out and Eddy using a whip and chair takes Stripes back to his cage. He tells Eddy what's going on and he is willing to help Stripes out. Before long, Stripes and Eddy have every part of the face except for the nose. With no gum in sight, Eddy goes to Edna's stand to get some. Unfortunately, the others eventually figure out something is up and follow Eddy around, which he asks about. They deny it but go on following him anyway and when Elizabeth sees Diamonds and Marvin following Eddy she thinks they're playing Follow the Leader and wants to join in. After finding out what's going on, the friends are annoyed that Stripes had kept this and then offer to help. By the time Stripes has collected all the wrappers he needs, everyone has chewed so much gum until they're sick of it! And after all their hard work, the fabulous prize turns out to be ... a lifetime supply of Gobble Gum.
Stripes realized that sometimes things don't turn out as expected. Everyone gets a prize of a lifetime supply of Gobble Gum at the end. They had missed their chance on waiting and winning for something better than more gum.
